She is a member of one of the most influential families in the world, but that doesn’t mean Kourtney Kardashian doesn’t have her own battles to deal with.
The mum-of-three has had a pretty rough year, splitting with her long-term partner, Scott Disick, amid allegations of infidelity, just months after giving birth to her third child, Reign.
However, she has taken to her blog to share with her followers how exactly she copes with stress, and her advice is something we can all do.
While she admits that she is “generally not a nervous person”, she does suffer from anxiety and nausea when dealing with hard times.
“I'm generally not a nervous person but I get anxious. I also get nauseated; I feel like I can't eat when it is really bad, but I force myself to stay healthy. Still, when my anxiety is extreme, it feels like my body is constantly burning calories all day long,” she wrote in a post titled, Coping with my Anxiety.
We all go through tough times, but it is how we deal with it that really matters, something the reality star can totally relate to.
For Kourtney, staying away from caffeine, alcohol and sugar – things which make her feel worse – can help. However, the one thing she feels is really beneficial is working out. We all know that staying healthy is important for our bodies, but, as the 36-year-old shows, it can also help our mental state.
“When I'm having an anxious day, my workout is so much harder. But that's when it feels good to power through it! I try to exercise 5 days a week, ” she explained.
“My anxiety is always worse in the mornings so that's when I schedule my workouts. I usually start with a quick run or jumping rope to warm up. I have to do something fast to really kill it. And I definitely need good music.”
Referring to people who are quick to judge a person’s motivation behind weight loss or exercise, she finished by saying: “People are very quick to judge others by appearances but you truly don't know what someone's motivation is or what is going on inside them. For me, exercise is as much about my body as it is about calming my mind.”
