My little girl has had eczema since she was a baby (she is 3 now). It isn’t very severe but when she does have flare-ups, she’s finds it annoying and also finds it hard to sleep. I’ve tried a few different products, but nothing has been very effective. While I know that there is no cure for eczema, I’ve been looking for anything that would help calm the condition so my daughter is more comfortable. I had never tried the La Roche-Posay products so was delighted to be included in the trial.
Step one was to wash the skin using the Lipikar Syndet. I really liked this cleansing gel as a little goes a long way. Although the product is oil base, it doesn’t have an oily feel which I loved. I never know what to put into my daughters bath because her skin is so sensitive, but with this product I felt confident using it as its soap-free, fragrance-free and paraben free. I really liked that my daughters skin was lovely a soft after using the gel in the bath, so now I’ve started using it myself! I think it’s a fantastic product to clean the skin, especially if your skin is dry and sensitive like my daughters.
The next step was to soothe the skin with the Lipikar Baume AP. I found this great for moisturising the skin. Even though the lotion was very thick, it absorbed quickly. I especially liked applying it to my daughter before bedtime as I feel the routine relaxed her and she slept much better. It was also excellent at soothing the itchy patches of her skin, and she didn’t wake up scratching once during the night so I was delighted.
Step 3 of the routine is calming. Any time my daughter was scratching, I used the Thermal Spring Water to calm the skin, and that’s exactly what it did. It was a brilliant product to have in the handbag, so not matter where we were or what we were doing, if her eczema was at her, I just applied the water and she felt so much better.
After a few days of the routine, my daughters skin was much improved. The eczema had really calmed down and she is sleeping so much better now (and therefore I am too thank god!) As I mentioned, I had never tried La Roche-Posay, but now I am converted and will continue to buy the products.
Thanks MummyPages for allowing me to take part! x
Thanks for including me in this trial. I’m delighted to take part, as my 9 month old suffers from eczema, and I suffer from dry skin patches myself. I was familiar with La Roche-Posay before the trial as I always use their suncreams (which I love – perfect for every member of the family which is very convenient when going on holidays). I have also been using the Cicaplast Baume recently for my baby’s nappy rash and it works wonders so I was really excited to try out the 3 step routine.
For step one I added the Lipikar Syndet in my baby’s bath. I’m always a little nervous about what products to use in my baby’s bath…her eczema can be very severe sometimes and I’m always worried that products, or even the water itself, will dry out her skin even further. I was really happy with this product. I gently cleansed her skin, which was very soft after the bath. You only need to use a tiny bit, which is great as the bottle lasts for ages. I used it in the shower myself and found it great for washing my dry skin patches.
After the bath, I applied the Lipikar Baume AP. I was really impressed with this product, and will be buying it again once my own bottle runs out. It absorbs really well and really soothed my baby’s skin. I used it on her every morning and night for 2 weeks and her eczema is so much better. My own dry skin has virtually disappeared since I started using it so I’m thrilled. When I first saw that I would have to apply the product twice daily, I thought this would be a lot of effort, but now it’s just part of our morning and night time routine and I don’t take any notice.
The final step of the routine was the Thermal Spring Water. I didn’t use this product religiously, but if I noticed flare-up in my baby’s skin I would spray it on and it seemed to help. One day when I had a long day of travelling I popped the bottle into my handbag and sprayed it on my face to freshen up, which was so handy. It was really refreshing and my face felt so much cleaner after using it.
After 2 weeks of following the 3 step routine, my baby’s eczema has improved considerably. My own dry patches have also disappeared so I will continue to follow the routine from now on.
I was thrilled when I was one of the lucky few to be asked to get involved as a tested for the La Roche-Posay group. On receiving the package I got to work straight away, eager to check out the results. Ive been using them for the last 2 weeks or so and heres what my thoughts are: LIPIKAR CLEANSING OIL - In general, I was really turned off by the smell of this oil gel. All the La Roche Posay products are non-perfumed, which I don’t mind, but this is really not nice. I find it difficult to explain but I didn’t like it at first and instantly though, Im not going to be able to use this. However, after a few times, I soon got used to it. I using it, only a small bit is required to do the whole body. Its quite amazing really, although its an oil based gel, there is no oily feeling and its absorbed into the skin straight away. I relaly like the feel of my skin afterwards and found it to be highly moisturising. LIPIKAR BAUME AP - When I got out I use the Lipikar Baume, which I loved. I’d heard about this one, its in a new ‘easy to squeeze’ tube andworks a treat. I found it does need to be rubbed in a bit but not too much and soaks in straight away, doesn’t leave a greasy feel on your skin and it cleared up my skind straight away. The backs of my arms are generally very dry and red and this clearered it up after only a few days. Ill definitely be getting this again. Thermal spring water - Used after the lotion, it’s a lovely cooling feeling and I believe this is used as a toning spary after cleaning aswell. I loved the feel on my skin. Im not sure it would be a must for me but if I had the money I’d definitely buy it for the feel on my skin alone. Overall, I loved the la roche posay experience and it would encourage me to look into others in the range. Ive tried the tinted factor 50 face suncream before and loved it. Its comforting to know that its scientific based products and the fact its sold mainly is pharmacies adds to this too.
I have very dry and irratated skin on my hands and arms that routinely breaks out at this time of year. I also have a child with similar skin, and his arms and back tend to be rough to the touch they are so dry. I had never heard of La Roche-Posey before this trial but was willing to try anything to help soothe our skin conditions.
I found the Lipikar Cleansing Oil very concentrated and discovered quickly that only a little is needed! It was soothing and felt nice but I was a little put off by the smell as was my son, although it doesn't linger after using. The Lipikar Baume AP was easy to use and very intense. I found that as a moisturiser at bedtime it worked really well but felt it was too heavy to use during the day as it took a really long time to absorb. The Thermal Spring Water was a puzzle for me as I couldn't think of when would be the appropriate time to use it. I found that it didn't sink in and as my hands are irratated by water it didn't help me at all. All in all though I would be inclined to purchase this product myself as I felt marked results in either my skin or that of my son.
I was delighted to be chosen for this trial i have used a lip cream from the La Roche-Posay brand and found it excellent. I was using this system on my son Ollie who is 16 months and like his eldest sister did ,suffers from excema on his torso, particularly his back, and also after we've been out in the cold his cheeks are very dry and cracked. I used another excema treatment on his sister which consisted of a bath and lotion and although it worked great for her i wasnt getting the same results for him. Unlike other testers i didnt find the smell of the bath/shower cleanser an issue, it has the clean kind of smell that alot of products designed to treat skin conditions have. I found it lathered up really well in the bath and i definitly felt like ollie was clean after using it. It didnt leave residue on his skin but his skin felt very soft and hydrated. It definitly helped with the dry appearance of his skin and the redness was noticably improved. Every morning and evening i applied the replenishing body balm which became a lovely routine especially at night when i have time to massage it in slowly. I dont know if its because it provides instant irritation relief but its the first time Ollie has laid still to be rubbed like that. It has no real scent, and although it has a thick consistency its absorbed quickly. This product has definitly made a huge difference to ollies skin as his back is almost completely clear now and you wouldn't even describe the skin there as dry anymore. I was abit confused by the thermal spring water to begin with and maybe more direction for use could be put on the bottle. I got into the habit of spraying some on his back, particularly if he was very red, every time i brought him up for a nappy change. Although i dont think this would be a stand alone product or an absolute neccessity, i do think that it provided soothing and cooling relief between the applications of the balm and helped to rehydrate his skin.I think its a good addition to the 3 step system.I also have to admit I found it great on Ollies bum on an occassion when he had nappy rash and I was letting him run around at home nappyless, definitly brought down the redness quicker. I would and have recommended this system to others particularly with children, due to how easy it is to use and get into a routine of use. I have seen a Ollies skin clear up very quickly and really like the concept of the use of each product to provide constant care. I think that the standout product for us is the body balm. Ive really enjoyed and im very grateful to have been a part of this trial as ive found a fantastic group of products.
I was so glad to be chosen to take part in this trial. I was finding my sons eczema, which is only mild, did not respond to other methods i had used. I also was glad that i would be trying La Roche-Posay products as i have used some in the past that have been great. i've used La Roche-Posay suncream for my eldest child who was allergic to other brands and have recently purchased Cicaplast baume B5 which is a soothing repair balm recomended to me for my little girls nappy rash, this has been a god send. i found the products in this 3 step programe easy to use. the Lipikar cleansing oil had a little smell which i found quite nce and even though it was oil based it did not seem to be when used. For the next step i used the Lipikar baume AP this feels a little thick but i though when rubbed across the skin it absorbed with ease. The Thermal spring water was cooling after all the cleansing and moisturising. In all i felt that this was a great programme my sons skin is not as dry and patchy as it was 2 weeks ago i would definately keep up this programme for him. i found he slept much better after the first few days of using the products and because he was sleeping better his mood was better.i also used it on myself and rest of my kids and found it improved all our skin
First off i was delighted to be chosen for this trial and would like to thank you for the opportunity.
I have heard of your products before but i'll be honest i thought they were a little on the expensive side, and if they didnt work id be left with more unfinished bottles. So when this opportunity came along i was so delighted .
The lipikar cleaning oil : I have been using this every 2-3 days on my little girl and have seen a great improvement in her skin, you only need a small amount of this in the bath.My little girl suffers with dry itchy skin especially on her legs and i have to say this is amazing stuff ,her skin felt really clean after this and not dry at all, since then her skin has become more supple.
The lipikar baume AP : What can i say about this moisturiser,it really does what it says ,it is so moisturising yet no greasy feel as it absorbs very quickly in to the skin.Even my little girl (4) has said her skin feels lovely lol.I have been using this every evening on her skin and we have seen a great improvement in the overall condition of her skin.
The thermal spring water : I have used this on my girls arms and legs and have found after a couple of applications it does have an effect on the skin, her skin feels more protected like it has a barrier and is definitely smoother, her dad has tried this on his hands as he has eczema breakouts from time to time and he also finds it soothing as his hands dont feel as tight.Overall i am a very happy mammy and i wish now i had tried these amazing products long before now.
I was delighted to be chosen to test these products. My one year old son has very dry skin on his cheeks, the back of his arms and the front of his legs. I have tried many products on his skin, none of which showed any results. I had heard of La Roche Posay before as I use a facial wash of theirs on my own skin. I was unaware they produced products for eczema.
LIPIKAR CLEANSING OIL - I found the smell of this really off putting, however a little goes a long way. You only need the tiniest amount to do the whole body. I would say this is good value for money.
LIPIKAR BAUME AP - I already had a tube of this at home which I had been using during my pregnancy. I had gotten dry skin on my face and my doctor had recommended I use this. I had no idea it could be used for eczema too. I found the squeezy bottle easy to use and again here, a little goes a long way. The only downside to this product was it took a very long time to absorb into my sons skin.
Thermal Spring water - I was unsure as to when was the best time to use this. I ended up putting it on after the moisturiser. I'm not sure what effect (if any) it had.
I have been using the products on my son for 2 weeks now and have not noticed any difference to his skin. However I will continue to use them for another couple of weeks and see if they do improve his skin.
I was delighted to be chosen as a tester for this range. I use La Roche Posay Kerium DS creme myself as I have a slight touch of dermatitis around my nose and find it works great for it.
My son who is almost two has mild but persistant eczema since he was 3 months old. I have previously used the Lipikar range as recommended by my pediatrician, which I purchased from my local chemist, but had only used the Syndet wash and the Lipikar Baume AP as they did not seem to stock the oil or the spray. I had found them quite good but the baume was a little heavy for the tops of his arms (which are generally free of eczema) and caused him to get little bumps there. I was interested to try the Lipikar Cleansing Oil and while it does have a slight smell, I did not find it unpleasant and it is lovely stuff. You only need a tiny bit, I shower him every night before bed and I've only used about an inch out of the bottle in the last 2 weeks. It's lathers up lovely, doesn't feel greasy on the skin and he feels lovely and soft after his shower. I was a little unsure whether to use the Thermal Spring Spray before or after the Baume (some more instructions on the can would be handy) so I tried each option for a few days. I found before seemed to work best for my son, it's helped the Baume soak in faster on his arms, so that his forearms are now much less bumpy and I'm sure with continued use, this will clear up completely over time. The Thermal Spray is nice and soothing, I've used it on my own face too and it feels lovely. The Baume itself is lovely, thick enough but for the most part soaks in quite well. His eczema is generally on his torso, arms & legs and is generally mild and the Lipikar range has brought this under control within a few days. He gets flare ups in the creases inside his elbows and the back of his knees and this is where I have the most trouble. Due to the recent change in temperature he is constantly going from hot to cold and back, this causes him to itch and he scratches these places making them red & rough and occasionally breaking the skin. He is a very active child, always outside running around so he gets hot and sweaty quite fast, then when he comes in from the cold into the heat he gets warmer again, causing more itchiness. This happens every winter and will eventually settle down. The Lipikar range has been soothing these areas and keeping the itch to a minimum so that he doesn't scratch as much. It has not completely cleared it as yet but I would expect that to happen soon. I use the 3 step routine at night before bed and top up the spray & baume at nappy changes on the backs of his knees and elbows. His skin has inproved quite alot in such a short space of tim and he sleeps better and longer as he doesn't seem to be as itchy as before. I will continue to use the 3 step routine and hopefully his current flare up won't last too much longer.
I was delighted to be chosen to take part in this trial. I have used the La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water as a toner in the past and the products were recommended to me recently by my GP. My 9 year old daughter has eczema behind her knees and on her torso. I also have eczema on my hands and have had it on my legs and stomach in the past. I was aware that La Roche Posay is recommended by dermatoIogists as my mother attends one and uses these products post treatment for Skin Cancer. I tested the 3 Step Routine on both my daughter and myself over the past 2 weeks. Lipikar Cleasing Oil - My daughter's skin was lovely and soft after using this and it cleaned well. I like the feel of this on my skin however I was a little put off by that it is a scented product. I would generally avoid all scented products for fear of a break out of eczema. The scent did not cause any problems however as I continued to use the product and it is nice to finally be able to use shower gel that is scented. It prevented any outbreak on my daughter's torso and I will use this in the future. Lipikar Baume - I love this product. It is very soothing and great at preventing outbreaks. It calmed my daughter's eczema behind her knees and I use it daily on my hands. It is quite thick but the skin on my hands is so dry it absorbs well. I will definately be buying this in future. Thermal Spring Water - This definitely calmed the skin behind my daughter's knees. I was unsure when to use it so I sprayed it when my hands were irritated and also used it after applying the cream. I have used it as a toner in the past and I also used it when I had eczema on my legs a couple of years ago. As a resulf of using the products my daughters eczema is under control and my hands have improved greatly. I will carry on using the 3 Step Routine. I am very happy with the results so far. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to test the products.
Firstly thank you for choosing my daughter to take part in your trial. She was very excited to taking part! My daughter is nearly 9 and has suffered with atopic eczema since birth. We have tried various products which we only seem to be able to use for short periods of time before her skin seems to take a disliking to. These products were easy for her to use herself as she is so used to her own wash moisturise routine and the results for this trial are completely her own thoughts on the products . LIPIKAR CLEANSING OIL: she was amazed at how little she needed in the shower it did not sting or irritate her skin. Her skin would always seem to get irritated with water and would be very red and irritated looking this did not happen with this shower gel. She loves it and we will defiantly buy this in the future. LIPIKAR BAUME AP: she found the moisturiser very greasy and took quite a while to rub in and absorb,it was good on the dry patches but stung quite a bit on the flared up patches that had cuts ,she scratched quite a bit after this was applied but once it had dried in her skin was quite soft to touch and itchiness eased. THERmAL SPRING WATER: This was her 2nd favourite next to the shower gel, when she was itchy after using the moisturiser she would use this to cool and calm her skin, this was very handy for her to use as it seemed to have an instant calming effect on her. She also found it handy to bring in her schoolbag for times during the day that she got itchy in school as it was quick and easy to use.another product we will use in the future. Overall results: We will continue to use the products until they are all used , the products seem to have kept her eczma under controll without the use of steroids. My daughter likes using them and the routine of wash soothe and calm really are the key with eczema .we would love to be able to use the "La Roche Posay 3 step routine" again but with alot of products like these they are expensive for the amounts you would need to be using. Thanks agin for your products it was a pleasure taking part ! Hope our review helps
First of all, i was delighted to be one of those chosn to take part in the La Roche-Posay Trial. My daughter has had eczema since she was 6 months old (almost 4 now), thankfully it's not as severe now as when she was a baby but now and then she gets flare ups on her arms, back of her legs, back and belly. I had heard that the La Roche-Posy brand was widely recommended by dermatologists but i had never tried it before, as i was using other brands recommended at the time. To be honest i didn't realise these products could only be purchased in a pharmacy. LIPIKAR CLEANSING OIL : I was very happy with this product and didn't mind the smell of it, as it's not too strong. Although it's oil based, it didn't have an oily feeling on the skin and i found a small amount was plenty to use at a time. I found too it easily absorbed on the skin. My child's skin really felf very clean and smooth after using it. LIPIKAR BAUME AP: I was also very happy with this. It has no greasy feeling, easily absorbed into the skin and i have really found a big difference since on my child's skin since using this. I put in on her every evening and i will continue to do so, as long as she needs it. Also i found i didn't need to use too much of it at a time. THERMAL SPRING WATER: My child was wondering the first time i used this, why i was spraying water on her skin, she wasn't impressed but after a few days she didn't mind. After a few days of using this i found that her skin was alot smoother and this helped to create a barrier. Overall i was very impressed with these products, as i have found a big improvement in my child's skin. I will certainly continue using them on her and will recommend them to others. Once again, thanks very much for allowing me to take part in this trial.
Have to say a huge Thank You to Mummy Pages and La Roche Posay for including us in this trial. My little one (20mths) had extremely bad Eczema breakouts on her face as a baby that had to be treated with steroid creams just to give her some relief. She still has extremely sensitive skin on her arms, legs and face and would rip clothes off if they irritated her. Her sleep can also be affected by a break out.
I tried every cream that friends and family had recommended but none seemed to give her any relief from it or have any visible effect. The first thing she always did the minute her clothes were off was start scratching.
I also have contact dermititis on my hands which goes crazy at this time of year and Im constantly looking for the magic cure that is a preventative rather than having to cake my hands in creams and gloves at night!
LIPIKAR CLEANSING OIL -
When I first opened the bottle I of course had a little nose of it to see what it smelled like. It smells "Fatty" if that makes any sense. Normally when I washed my child with other products she squirmed when being washed. When I used it topically on a sponge and she absolutely loved it even lay down relaxed in the bath. I could even feel from the first use that my own skin had been hydrated from using it on her. After a couple of applications she now enjoys being washed and even rubs the oil into her arms and legs! LIPIKAR BAUME AP -
This cream comes in a easy squeezable tube which is great when trying to hold down a wriggler. The cream is quite thick but coverage is excellent and absorbs in quite quickly. After the second application she was offering up her arms and legs to have the cream on and even hands me the cream after her bath. She loves it being rubbed on her cheeks. The main thing I noticed is she never started scratching at her skin.
THERMAL SPRING WATER - Thermal spring water also absorbs quickly but the lid of the can and can itself could do with a redesign as your hands are slightly slippy after the lipikar baume and slips out of your had. Again my litte one offers up her arms and legs to be sprayed and helps rub it in.
Overall our experience was extremely positive and we will be purchasing La Roche Posay for our litte one as she has finally started to sleep better since we started using the products on her and she has stopped scratching at her skin and pulling off her clothes. Thanks again!!
My son is just under 2years old and suffers with eczema since he was 3 months old. I have tried a huge amount of brands and products to help to clear and control the breakouts but with not much success. Most products that worked, worked only temporarily. I first heard of the La Roche-Posay products when I saw an Ad for the Cicaplast Baume B5, which I bought and love it! It was the only non-cortisone product to actually clear his skin. That was what made me sign up for the trial and I am delighted I did. My son's eczema was much worse when he was smaller and now-a-days his skin is mainly quite dry overall with bad patches of eczema, mainly wrist, knuckles, behind the knees, ears and around his mouth. Hydro cortisone ointment was the only thing the worked for the patches and I was desperately looking for a way to stop using it. I have now been using the 3 step routine for about 2 weeks and I have not needed the hydro cortisone one. And that means something!About the LIPIKAR CLEANSING OIL: I found my child skin really soft from first use of the product and I started using it myself then (I'm pregnant and my skin has gone really dry and sensitive during the pregnancy). The only down side of using the product was that my son complained when the bath water accidentally went into his eyes that it stung! Both my skin and my son's improved with the oil alone and I was pleasantly surprised.LIPIKAR BAUME AP: I thought this one was going to be thick and sticky. It is thicker than most creams I tried but it wasn't hard to put on and the skin absorbed quite quickly. I did noticed a improvement on my son's complaints about the itchiness on his skin and I also noticed how good it fell on my skin (my bump was getting quite itchy even though I was using an anti stretchmarks oil from another brand), once I put it on, the itchiness reduces straight away.THERMAL SPRING WATER: I will not lie! I did not know how/when to use this product properly, so maybe it should have been explained better for the trial, but I did know that thermal water does wonders to the skin and I used on my son's skin at night after the moisturiser and sometimes when he said his hands were itchy. I did not know how or if it was working for him, but I do know that it was very refreshing on my skin. Both my skin and my son's have improved in the last couple of weeks as my skin no longer feels so dry and his skin also feels much softer and no flare ups. I will continue to use the products and I will buy them again as I feel they were the best thing I used for the last 2 years and I will certainly recommend it to anyone with very dry skin and eczema.
My five-month old daughter has had sensitive skin since birth and as result can make choosing skincare products a challenge. La Roche-Posay is a brand that I recognised but one that I didn't know too much about before trying it. The Cleansing Oil is both practical and soothing - a product that I would happily use for myself also. The body balm goes on beautifully without causing too much mess for a small baby. The Spring Water is refreshing and is a very handy product to use on the go. I look forward to trying more products by the brand both for me and my daughter in the future. Thanks so much for giving us both the opportunity to take part!!
