Losing a loved one is a traumatic enough ordeal without adding legalities and lawsuits to the mix, and the sadness of this late star’s daughter is tangible this week.
Meadow Walker, the teenage daughter of the late actor Paul Walker, has expressed her disappointment after Porsche rejected her legal claims against the company.
Fast & Furious star Walker died two years ago after the car he was travelling in crashed into a lamppost. Daughter Meadow went on to launch a ‘wrongful death’ lawsuit against the car company, claiming that the Porsche Carrera GT he was travelling in was flawed.
This week, legal representatives for the car manufacturer hit back at Meadow’s claims, insisting that the car involved in the tragic accident was “misused and improperly maintained”.
Meadow has naturally been left upset by the response, with a rep responding: “It is beyond regrettable that Porsche is trying to deflect its own responsibility by blaming the victim – Paul Walker – for his own death by getting into the passenger seat of its Carrera GT.”
“Contrary to Porsche’s assertions, the facts are clear: Paul was the passenger in a car that was not designed to protect its occupants, in a crash on a dry, empty straightway in broad daylight and at speeds well below the vehicle’s advertised capabilities,” the rep added.
The car’s driver, Roger Rodas, also lost his life in the accident.
