Many of us become that little bit more self-conscious when we step into a bikini after having a baby; but just because our bodies change, that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a bad thing.

This is a message that mum-of-three Davina McCall wants to drive home this week.

The 49-year-old shared an empowering Instagram post today, urging women to embrace their bodies and the changes that different life events bring.

Davina – who is mum to 15-year-old Holly, 13-year-old Tilly, and 10-year-old Chester – also took the opportunity to separate appearance from reality.

Posting a shot of herself in her swimsuit, her hands in the air, Davina wrote: “OK, so take note of how many girls take bikini shots with their arms in their air (it’s to make our tummies look better)!!!”

When you swipe left, you can see a close-up of Davina’s tummy, relaxed.

“After three kids, my tummy looks like a sharpei puppy…swipe left to see. My daughter is holding it…it’s one of her fave things – my rolls. She’s helped me love them too.”

“Striving to be the best I can be, but love who I am now,” she added, proudly acknowledging her ‘mummy tummy’.

Davina came in for great praise from her legion of followers, who took to the comment section to thank her for her ‘inspiration’.

“Fair play to you, Davina. Remember; beauty comes from within – not that you aren’t beautiful, by the way!” wrote one fan.

Another chimed in: “I don’t know where you get your energy or motivation from! I’m always so tired. As I’ve hit 40, I’ve found I lack energy! You look amazing, sharpei rolls included!”

While Davina will always be known as the face of Big Brother, in recent times she has focused her energies on health and fitness. After her success participating in Sport Relief, the mum-of-three launched her own fitness programme.

Over on her social media channels, Davina has dedicated her posts to inspiring and encouraging others to be the very best that they can be, particularly when it comes to their health and fitness.

As women who are just that little bit addicted to our Instagram timelines, we think it’s really cool that people like Davina are trying to break down perceptions and encourage body positivity.
