First dates can become a bit repetitive if you keep going for dinner and drinks in restaurants that you have been to a hundred times before.

And while they are a good way to get to know someone, there are so many other places or things you can do that are a lot more fun and interesting.

1. Cookery class

There’ll be no awkward silences when you are both trying desperately hard for your sponge cake to turn out at least half edible.

2. Wine/ beer tasting

Share your love of wine or beer with each other by heading to a local tasting where you can enjoy flirty glances over your glass.

3. Picnic on the beach

If you don’t fancy spending a fortune each of you should pack a picnic full of your favourite snacks and head along to the beach.

4. Local market

There are so many local markets these days that you’ll be spoilt for choice! Wander between the stalls, coffee in hand and share the most interesting facts about yourself.

5. Go for a run

If you are both sports fans why not pop  on your runners and head out to pound the pavements! If you don’t like the person they’ll be handy for making your great escape...

6. Go to a football match

Make it an interesting one by trying to get one where your favourite teams are playing against each other.

7. Channel your inner skater boy

Root your skates or skateboard out and head to your local skate park. You never know, there might be a dramatic fall where your date will have to rush up to grab you in their arms.

8. Go to the museum

If you’re looking for something cheap to do or fancy showing yourself off as a bit of a culture buff, head to a museum or exhibition!
