A 14-year-old girl from Sussex is badly shaken after a man tried to grab her while walking home alone through Tilgate Park.
A strange man grabbed her arms, but quickly found himself on the wrong end of an attack.
The girl, who has studied self-defence and martial arts for many years managed to break free from his grasp, before punching and kicking him several times before running away.
Police arrested an unnamed 35-year-old man shortly after on suspicion of assault and questioned.
Detective Inspector Andy Bennett has sent out a plea for information from any witnesses.
“Although we have made an arrest, we need to speak to anyone who was in Tilgate Park on Saturday morning and saw what happened,” he said.
“The teenager was badly shaken by what happened but was not injured. We do not know what the man's motive was but need to identify him to find out.”
