She has been making headlines all week as she continues her tour of duty around several European cities, but this has to be our favourite story so far from Michelle Obama’s latest presidential trip.
The First Lady, who is currently in Italy with daughters Sasha and Malia, delivered a very special surprise to the pregnant military wives and servicewomen of a US military base in Vincenza.
Joined by her teenage daughters, Michelle threw a stunning surprise baby shower for the mums-to-be.
The fun event was organised in collaboration with Operation Shower and Glam4Good, and saw the excited mums-to-be showered with baby essentials as well as special treats to enjoy themselves at this special time in their lives.
The lucky mums were presented with gifts from labels such as Tommy Hilfiger, Dior and H&M, with their goody-bags including beauty products, jewellery, maternity clothes and more.
Glam4Good founder Mary Alice Stephenson told The Huffington Post that the event was a total surprise and success.
“The moms were so happy they were in tears, but as soon as they saw all the glamorous accessories, clothing and beauty products, it was shop-til-you-drop! Mrs Obama even jumped in with a fashion tip or two – how cool is that?” Stephenson said.
What a gorgeous idea. Well done to Michelle and all involved.
