We all know how attached our children can become to their pets, but if the story of one little girl from Freeport, Maine is to be believed, there are some bonds which run deeper than others; much, much deeper.

You see, Kylie Brown isn't just the proud owner of a beautiful duck named Snowflake; oh she's more than that. She's his mum.

Speaking to CBS' Steve Hartman, the affectionate and exceedingly maternal five-year-old explains, with the help of her parents, why the relationship she shares with Snowflake is more than just your standard owner / pet set-up.

Utterly devoted to one another for as long as Kylie can remember, she and Snowflake communicate, provide comfort to each other and even channel their inner Frozen characters together at Halloween.

Check this out and wait for the moment Steve tells Kylie that one day Snowflake might just fly the nest!
