We have some very sad news to share this morning, as it has been reported that one of the movie industry’s greatest music legends has passed away.
Film composer James Horner has reportedly died in a plane crash. The 61-year-old was said to be piloting a small aircraft when it came down around the Santa Barbara area.
Horner was a two-time Oscar winner, who was perhaps best known for creating the scores for blockbusters such as Titanic, Braveheart and Field of Dreams.
Horner’s assistant, Sylvia Patrycja, confirmed the sad news on Facebook, writing: “We have lost an amazing person with a huge heart and unbelievable talent. He died doing what he loved. Thank you for all your support and love, and see you down the road.”
Tributes have been pouring in for Horner all morning, with a number of high-profile Hollywood stars tweeting their condolences.
Actress Debra Messing wrote: “We lost a MASTER today. RIP James Horner. Your music will live forever.”
There is nothing that shaped my movie-going experience more than the musical genius of James Horner. He will live on through the ages.
