Whether you’re not getting enough sleep, or you’re absorbed in the movements of a computer screen all day long, puffy eyes affect the majority of us on a weekly basis. While there is a multitude of creams on the market, specifically designed to solve this dilemma, there are some home remedies that have proven equally effective.
1. Teabags
You can either opt for herbal or black as, while caffeinated teabags help to reduce swelling, herbal teabags soothe redness and inflammation.
2. Spoons
Teaspoons are best for this popular practice. Put the spoons in the fridge, then close your eyes and place one (curve side down) on each eye to reduce inflammation.
3. Cucumbers
Cucumbers’ properties cause the blood vessels to naturally constrict. Cut it into slices and place the (preferably chilled) pieces over your closed eyes for five to 10 minutes.
4. Salt water
While consuming foods which are high in salt is not good for your blood circulation, a salt water mixture is soothing to the eyes. Mix a half-teaspoon of salt into a quarter pint of warm water, dip in two cotton pads, and then place them over your eyes to take the inflammation down.
5. Water
Not only does drinking water keep you hydrated, but it also builds up your water reserves around the eyeballs. Dehydration puts your body into survival mode, causing it to puff in certain areas, so drinking water throughout the day will help to keep those bags under control.
