On October 16, 18-year-old Meadow Walker settled in her wrongful death lawsuit with Porsche - almost four years after her father, Paul Walker, died in the fateful car crash.
The movie star was only 40 years old. He died in the midst of filming Furious 7 when his friend Roger Rodas’ Porsche burst into flames, after slamming into a lamp post.
Meadow sued Porsche in September 2015, claiming that if it had not been for a defective seatbelt that kept the Fast and the Furious star trapped in the car while it burned, he would have been able to escape the blaze. She also claimed that the particular car, a 2005 Porsche Carrera GT, had shown instability, control issues, and other flaws over the years.
Both Meadow and the German car company requested earlier this month that the wrongful death suit be dismissed. The terms of the settlement are confidential.
The actor’s daughter was also awarded $10.1 million (almost €8.6 million) in a settlement from Roger Rodas’ estate back in 2016, as he was the driver of the doomed vehicle. Roger also died in the car accident.
Meadow is the daughter of Paul Walker and his former girlfriend, Rebecca Soteros.
Meadow posted a picture of herself and her father on Instagram on what would have been his 44th birthday this year, urging people to do random acts of kindness and tag the foundation she set up in his memory, the Paul Walker Foundation.
The Paul Walker Foundation was founded by Paul’s loving daughter just over two years ago on Paul’s birthday, September 12, and is dedicated to environmental and oceanic protection.
“Reflecting on my father, I found myself reflecting on his passions. His passion for the ocean, his passion for rescuing animals, his passion for helping people and his passion for spontaneous goodwill,” Meadow said in the 2015 Instagram post where she announced she was starting the philanthropic organization.
She continued, “I wanted to start this foundation because I want to share that piece of him with the world. I want to share that part of him with others… I can't think of a better way to celebrate my father.”
