If you are looking for something a bit different for your home or for an unusual gift, then this could be the thing for you. Slated is an Irish family owned business that produce beautiful, handcrafted slate products for the home. Most of their products are centred around the dining table, but they also have a fabulous array of trays, planters, cake stands and memo boards.
Slate is a heavy, brittle material so it's not especially child-friendly. However, these are pieces that are meant to be cherished and used for special occasions, such as when you have guests. Like any special piece, treat it with care. Don’t throw out the presentation box and, when not in use, store the slate products in their original box. On inspection we found that all of the slate products are fully certified as food safe so we happily proceeded with our test of the products.
We particularly loved the square cheese board. It looked stunning when laden with cheese, but could also be used to serve a dessert, or as a trivet for a dish that has come straight from the oven. This is priced at only €35 so it won’t break the bank and would make a lovely gift.
