As one of the best-loved pop stars to come out of Britain, it’s not too often that she finds herself at the centre of controversy, so it’s only natural that a recent incident left this mum-of-two feeling quite upset.
Former S Club 7 singer and current judge on The Voice of Ireland, Rachel Stevens, has admitted that she was left devastated by criticism levelled against her when she left her two young daughters alone in her car.
The incident occurred last September, with the 37-year-old being photographed leaving four-year-old Amelie and one-year-old Minnie in the car while she ran errands.
Opening up about the difficult time in an interview with Essentials magazine, Rachel said: “I found it hard when I was criticised for running out of my car to run an errand while the girls were still in it. Parenting is always going to split judgement, and you never have all the answers.”
“I would never do anything to intentionally harm my girls; they are my life. Whatever you do as a parent, you will be judged by other people. You can only do your best,” she added.
At the time, 48% of mums participating in a MummyPages survey admitted that they thought it would be okay to leave their kids alone in the car if it was ‘only for a short time’.
