According to emerging media reports, members of the public were left stunned by one star's recent decision to leave her children unattended while tending to some errands in North London.

Much-loved singer and former S Club 7 member, Rachel Stevens, chose to leave her daughters, Amelie and Minnie Blossom, in the family car last week in a move which has sparked debate among various corners of the parenting community.

Commenting on what some may consider a controversial decision, one onlooker recalled the scene which played out in the UK capital and admitted she was somewhat taken aback by Rachel's decision.

"At first I didn’t realise they were in the car on their own or how young one of them was but when I did it was quite shocking," she revealed.

Despite Amelie playing happily in the front seat while her younger sister remained in the back, witnesses felt compelled to question the what-ifs in such a situation.

Reflecting on the possible implications for four-year-old Amelie and 18-month-old Minnie, the passer-by continued: "I suppose I think about the worst-case scenario but what if they took off the handbrake or managed to get out of the car? Or if someone managed to get in?"

It is understood 37-year-old Rachel, who married husband Alex Bourne in 2009, returned to the car after a ten minute absence, and has yet to comment on the decision which has ignited much debate.
