It's certainly a sad day in the world of celebrity couples today.
Following on from the news that Rebecca Addlington and husband Harry Needs have decided to go their separate ways after an 18-month marriage, confirmation has emerged from across the pond that another much-loved couple have made the decision to split up.
Casey Affleck and his wife Summer Phoenix, who appeared in The Faculty and The Laramie Project, have announced that their ten-year marriage has come to an end, with a representative for the Gone Baby Gone actor confirming the news in an official statement.
Announcing the sad news to the press, Casey's spokesperson told clamouring media: "Casey Affleck and Summer Phoenix have amicably separated. They remain very close friends."
40-year-old Casey, whose brother Ben parted ways from his wife Jennifer Garner in June 2015, is dad to two children with 37-year-old Summer - sons they welcomed in 2004 and 2008.
Casey began dating Summer, who is sister to Joaquin and the late River, in 2000 before tying the knot in June 2006.
We wish them well as they navigate this difficult chapter in their lives.
