Despite her marriage split taking up so much headline space, singer and devoted mum-of-two Mariah Carey has so far remained tight-lipped about the breakdown of her relationship with estranged husband Nick Cannon.

However, in her latest interview, the 45-year-old has given a heartbreaking insight into how her personal traumas have affected her.

In an exclusive interview with The Daily Mail, the star revealed that she has not let herself shed a single tear over her split in front of four-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe.

“I don’t want them to see a mother who’s saying, ‘I’m going through this. I’m going through that.’ They’re babies – innocents. They don’t have to see that yet – if ever,” she said, candidly.

In a devastating admission, the Heartbreaker hitmaker added: “I try to keep everything together because, in some instances, if you cry you’re not going to stop crying.”

Paying tribute to her son and daughter, Mariah described her little ones as a ‘blessing’, saying: “They’re the greatest experience of my life. They’re my best friends. They’re everything.”

Presenter Nick revealed last year that he and Mariah had separated, with the couple’s divorce confirmed earlier this year. They previously insisted that their twins were their priority going forward, and they have continued to put on a united front during the holidays.
