There have been plenty of reports in the media of babies and toddlers being accidently left or locked in the car. And while it is easy to criticise these parents, it seems that it can happen to absolutely anyone, including singer Carrie Underwood.
Mum to six-month-old Isaiah the Before He Cheats hitmaker recalls the moment her son was accidently locked in the car with her dogs.
"We were at the airport, the car was running, the radio was on, the air conditioning was on, our family kind of came to see us off. As you do, you get out of the front seat and you shut the door so you can turn around, so you can get your luggage out," she said in a recent interview
However, it was what happened next that turned a normal act into every parent’s worst nightmare – one of the dogs jumped up onto the control panel and locked the door.
"Immediately, one of the dogs jumped up on the little control panel on the door, and I heard the thing click. I was like, 'The doors locked, the doors locked, the doors locked," she explained.
The 32-year-old didn’t have a spare set of keys and tried everything, including trying to get the dogs to stand on the control panel again, to open the door. Thankfully, she wasn’t on her own and her bother-in-law eventually broke the car window in order to free her son.
It just goes to show how easily something like this can happen, and how vigilant we have to be at all times.
