In photos captured over the holidays, the former couple - who filed for divorce last December – appeared close as they posed with their three-year-old twins, Monroe and Moroccan.
Followers of both stars expressed their delight to see the pair putting their relationship drama behind them for the sake of their little ones, but Nick has dropped the biggest hint yet that their marriage may not be totally over.
New footage recorded by entertainment website TMZ appeared to catch Nick off guard, asking him if he and Mariah would ever get back together.
“Yeah,” Nick said, smiling as he got into a car, adding, “You can never say never."
Mariah and Nick had always seemed rock solid, and fans were indeed taken by surprise when Nick revealed that he and his wife had been living apart for some time.
The former couple have always been adamant about maintaining a good relationship for the sake of their children.
Nick previously said: “Family is the first thing and my kids are most important.”
