To see how she interacts with the children who appear on her show, you would think that presenter and comedienne Ellen DeGeneres would make a wonderful mum.
However, speaking candidly in her latest interview, the star – who is married to actress Portia de Rossi – said that we can pretty much rule out motherhood for her and her wife.
In an extremely candid admission, the 57-year-old told chat show host Matt Lauer: “I think I would [like to have kids], but that’s not enough to have a kid.”
True to her trademark humour, the star added: “It seems long-term. It seems like a commitment that you have to stick with. I’m going to compare (the child) to all these kids I’ve had on the show, who are so smart and so funny, and I’m like, ‘You are nowhere near these kids I had on today.’”
Ellen’s wife Portia previously shot down rumours that the couple were planning on starting a family, admitting that looking after her own nieces was enough for them.
Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live last October, the 41-year-old said: “They’re adorable and we love them and we play with them, and then we leave.”
