38-year-old Síle Seoige honoured her baby boy with a very special bilingual naming ceremony this week that she described as pure 'magic'.

The broadcaster was given the all-clear from her oncologist almost a year ago after her battle with thyroid cancer, which began in 2012. Despite the former Newstalk presenter harbouring doubts about being able to have children because of her illness, she happily announced that she and boyfriend Damien O'Farrell were expecting in February this year.

Now she's celebrated her first child, Cathal, with a beautiful naming ceremony. The mum posted a picture of gorgeous candles featuring whimsical cartoon animals on Instagram.

"Dublin bound after a magic few days in the West celebrating our maneen," Síle wrote in the caption, "I am so happy that we went for the experience that we wanted for him...a naming ceremony at home in Spiddal with family who travelled from Cork, Longford, Dublin and even South Africa to be there!"

It was Síle's sister, fellow broadcaster Gráinne, who travelled all the way from South Africa to share in her sister's joy.

The ceremony was conducted in both English and Irish by a close family friend.

The new mum said of the event, "It was personal, authentic and heartfelt and I wouldn't have changed a thing. Fresh air, walks on the beach, quality time with family, cuddles, singsongs & plenty of craic!"

That sounds like a great time to us!

Fans on Instagram agreed.

"A fabulous event.....and where better to celebrate such an occasion than our lovely Gaillimh," commented one Insta follower.

Another appropriately said in Irish, "Comhghairdeas Síle!"

Congratulations to Síle, Damien, and Cathal. What an adorable family!
