This artist turns stretch marks into art, and we are in AWE of her
It is so important to learn how to love yourself, flaws and all (although we don't like calling things flaws).
Anyway, one particular flaw we will all be too familiar with is stretch marks - those gorgeous lines that appear on the body with a growth spurt or pregnancy.
Listen, we all have them, and they are nothing to be ashamed of, but sometimes we can't help but wish they would p*ss off, right?
Well, one amazing Instgram artist is changing the way we look at stretch marks, by turning them into wonderful works of art.
Spanish artist Cinta Tort Cartró has been creating artistic versions of stretch marks, period stains, and cellulite and posts them on social media, and we absolutely love them.
The artist recently spoke to Yahoo Beauty about her work, and what inspired her to start such a project:
“I grew up feeling sometimes out of place. I’m tall and big, so it’s important for me to state in my art that everyone is beautiful and those ‘flaws’ are not that. They make us unique and special,” she said.
Cartró uses paint and glitter in order to highlight parts of the female body, particularly the parts that society thinks needs to be “fixed.”
Cartró initially started this project to educate her small town in Spain about feminism and racial issues. She decided that her art was going to be a tool to discuss these issues.
“There are many things happening in my town that I couldn’t be silent on, such as the male microaggression toward the female body,” she said. “I know there are countries that have it worse than here in Spain, but I couldn’t stay silent.”
