There have been so many surprise Disney World holiday reveals that we’re now used to the format – the parents trick the kids into thinking that they’re going somewhere boring, then they make the big reveal, and the kids are shocked at first but then ecstatic. In light of this, the Johnson children’s reactions are a break from tradition.
After years of promising their two older children, Mark and Holly Johnson finally decided to book a family holiday to Disney World, and they chose to surprise their kids on the car journey to the airport.
Recording the whole thing, Mark is seen explaining to the camera that the kids think they’re going to church in a place called Murfreesboro, where they have friends. He adds that the children have never been on a family holiday, so he and his wife are naturally excited to see their reaction.
Things take a turn for the unexpected, however, when the Johnsons make the big reveal to the children. Eight-year-old Pete bursts into tears, but not for the reason you might think – he is genuinely devastated that he’s not getting to go to Murfreesboro!
Their teenage daughter, meanwhile, is very excited at the prospect, but she suddenly becomes worried – what if her parents didn’t pack the right clothes?!
As you can see from the rest of the video, little Pete did come around to the idea of Disney World in the end – the poor guy must have just been very overwhelmed to begin with!
