This mother's response to her daughter calling her 'fat' is absolutely fantastic
Recently, Allison Kimmey called her children in from their pool, and her daughter was so upset that playtime was over that she called her mum 'fat'.
Ah, kids can be so cruel.
Her little daughter turned to her brother, and said 'mama is fat' and immediately apologised and seemed to regret it.
The smart mum was able to use her daughter's outburst as a learning moment for both of her kids, opening up a conversation with them about how to talk about each other's bodies.

Allison shared her story in a candid, and amazing Instagram post:
The truth is, I am not fat," she said to them. "No one IS fat. It's not something you can BE. But I do HAVE fat. We ALL have fat. It protects our muscles and our bones and keeps our bodies going by providing us energy."
"Some people have a lot of fat, and others don't have very much," she recalled telling them. "But that doesn't mean that one person is better than the other, do you both understand?"
"Fat is not a bad word in our house," she wrote. "If I shame my children for saying it then I am proving that it is an insulting word and I continue the stigma that being fat is unworthy, gross, comical and undesirable."

Since she posted her story on Monday, it has gone viral, with over 33,000 likes, and hundreds of comments in support of her parenting skills.
Allison wants to ensure her kids understand their bodies, and respect others.
"Our children are fed ideas from every angle, you have to understand that that WILL happen: at a friends house whose parents have different values, watching a tv show or movie, overhearing someone at school- ideas about body image are already filtering through their minds," she pointed out.
"It is our job to continue to be the loudest, most accepting, positive and CONSISTENT voice they hear."
