A well-known actress has taken to Twitter to voice her bafflement at airport officials in Heathrow after they confiscated her breastmilk during a recent trip.

Charmed star Alyssa Milano wasted no time in speaking out against the airport who allowed her to carry on makeup and other assorted toiletries, but refused her permission to keep the breastmilk.

In a series of Twitter posts, the actress said: "They said they would let the pumped milk through if I had the baby with me. Why would I need to pump if I had the baby with me???"

The 42-year-old star acknowledged the importance of airport procedure, but struggled to understand the logic behind her recent debacle, writing: "Milk was taken away with no discussion. Shampoos, lotions, etcetera were simply tested and handed back with no issue. Makes no sense at all."

Having declared that she would have 'happily spread milk in different containers', the airport responded to the star's questions, saying: "Unfortunately without a baby present, the government requires all liquids in carry-ons follow the 100 ml rule."

The airport's response only served to irritate the star all the more, who felt she met the liquid limit requirements, saying: "Another reason it makes no sense- when I got past security it was time to pump again so...I did carry on five ounces of breast milk."

The star has received messages of support since taking to social media regarding the incident,
