Late Night host Seth Meyers and his wife Alexi Ashe just revealed they are expecting their second child together – and the comedian announced it in a very special way.
Seth, who rose to fame on SNL, had his mum, dad, and younger brother Josh on his show for Thanksgiving. After joking with his family about his mum getting a picture with Bruce Springsteen, the 43-year-old dad casually mentioned that he and his wife are expecting a new addition to their family.
“I want to take this opportunity now,” Seth said, “My wife and I are expecting a second baby.”
How exciting!
The funnyman also announced that his wife was pregnant their first child, son Ashe Olson Meyers, on Late Night. Ashe turned one in March this year.
Seth’s mum revealed that her son was crying over the phone, barely able to catch his breath when he told her about him and his wife’s second child.
When she asked why he was sobbing so much, he responded, “Because for over a month I’ve had to pretend that I don’t care what sex it is, and I do care, I want a little boy.”
“I really wanted a brother for my son because I was so lucky to have one,” Seth said. He and his brother Josh, who is also an actor and comedian, are the best of friends.
The family members speculated on a name for the hypothetical little boy, and Seth’s dad said he was hoping for Albert.
Seth’s father revealed the hilarious reason why he likes the name so much: “We’ve had five sheepdogs, and they’ve all been named Albert. And I really love the dog and I always wonder what it would sound like if it could talk… So I figure, if they name the kid Albert, eventually he’ll start to talk and I’ll say, ‘Ah, yeah that’s it.’”
“The kid’s gonna outlive the dog,” Seth’s dad continued, “It’s like Pinocchio. The dog becomes a real boy, and everything works out.”
Seth admitted to his parents that, ‘the fact it’s been five of our dogs’ names has eliminated it’.
“You can tell us that but it doesn’t mean we have to stop hoping for it,” Josh joked.
Congratulations to Seth and Alexi!
