Police in England have today issued an urgent appeal for information, following a suspected abduction in Surrey yesterday.

According to reports, a little boy of ‘about six or seven’ was seen getting into a modified van in the Redhill area of the county, leaving a mountain bike behind on the pavement.

Police have yet to receive a report of a missing child in the area, but they are treating the incident ‘extremely seriously’ as they try to identify and locate the child and driver.

The incident is said to have taken place at 4:43pm on Thursday evening,

The authorities are now on the hunt for the black VW Transporter van, bearing an ‘02’ number plate, with sliding door. The vehicle had no rear windows or logo, and was missing one of four alloy wheels.

A witness who reported the incident described the child as a white male, 4ft tall, wearing a red T-shirt and navy jeans.

Appealing to the public for information, a member of the local police said in a statement: “At this stage we are not ruling out a number of options, including whether the child and the person in the van know each other."
