When you’re a parent, you’re always going have concerns for your child. And when that child expresses a desire to follow in your own footsteps, sometimes those fears are perpetuated by your own experiences.

This seems to be the case for supermodel Cindy Crawford, whose 14-year-old daughter Kaia Gerber is already beginning to make a name for herself in the fashion industry.

With a modelling contract and a series of fancy magazine shoots under her belt, the teen’s career trajectory appears to be following that of her mother – but is Cindy happy about this?

In an interview with The Edit, the famous mother-of-two expressed her concern for Kaia entering into an industry that demands perfection.

“Today, models are expected to be so tiny, and I worry about that for her, because that was never my natural body type and I don’t think it’ll be hers either,” said the 49-year-old.

Cindy is not about to hold Kaia back from pursuing her dreams however, and while it seems she will definitely being keeping an eye on her progress, she did share some advice for the teen.

“Enjoy carbs while you can!” she joked, adding, “Kaia’s blossoming into such a beautiful young woman and I really want to let her shine. I don’t want her to feel in competition with me…But she’ll be fine! She’s much more together and worldly than I was at her age.”

Cindy, who is married to Randy Gerber, is also mum to 16-year-old son Presley.
