Scottish police searching for missing 24-year-old nurse, Karen Buckley, have discovered remains on a farm in Glasgow.

The young woman, originally from Co. Cork, was studying in Glasgow Caledonian University when she went missing on Saturday night following an evening out at Sanctuary nightclub.

Having been reported missing, an investigation into the student's whereabouts was launched and this morning, it has been revealed that a body believed to be that of the missing Cork woman has been found.

Commenting on the discovery, Scottish police said: "Formal identification has yet to take place, however, police believe that they may be those of missing woman Karen Buckley."

Karen's heartbroken parents travelled to Scotland from Ireland this week and appealed to the public for information regarding their daughter's whereabouts, saying: "We love her to bits and we are devastated. We just want Karen home safely, we are desperate."

A 21-year-old man has been arrested this morning and is due to appear in court tomorrow morning.

Karen Buckley's family have been made aware of the tragic discovery.
