Earlier today, we reported how a 22-month-old child had been saved from the clutches of his abductor, thanks to his older siblings, aged 10 and eight.
Now, the children have shared a truly chilling account of the incident, in which they almost lost their little brother Owen.
Opening up on the frightening moment, eight-year-old sister Delicia told ABC News that the male – still at large, and described as a six-foot to six-foot-two man of thin build, with brown hair and a moustache – seemed friendly at first.
The little girl revealed: “He said he was nice to kids and that he had been babysitting for a long time.”
According to early reports, the children were playing in a park, unsupervised, behind their babysitter’s home when the man approached them. After engaging them in conversation for a few minutes, he then scooped up the youngest child and ran down the street with him in his arms. He proceeded to drop the child when a number of people – including Owen’s siblings – chased him and began screaming.
Little Delicia added, heartbreakingly: “I thought he was trying to kidnap him [Owen] so I ran and screamed.”
Admitting that he wasn’t scared by the stranger, older brother Brenden, 10, added: “I was chasing him so I could get my brother back for my cousin’s birthday party.”
Dad Michael Wright praised his children for their bravery, telling the news station: “For my kids to run after him, that is an act of courage.”
Police from the local area of Sprague, Washington are currently trying to apprehend the abductor.
