Eyelash curlers can give lovely curly lashes which can make your eyes look bigger, accentuating them. Curlers can either be heated or non-heated and can be made of metal or plastic, so if you are looking to buy one, it’s important to know which type is the best. We have outlined some tips on what to look for when buying this new addition to your beauty range.
Plastic or metal eyelash curlers?
Plastic is cheaper and recommended if you are only going to curl your eyelashes for special nights out. If you are looking to do it more regularly, then perhaps you should consider a more durable metal curler. The metal curler will last a lot longer and gives better results although there isn’t a huge difference in price. The pads will need to be replaced every two months for safety.
To heat or not to heat?
Gentle heat helps curl your lashes. Undoubtedly, heated curlers are more expensive than the non- heated kind, but your eyelashes stay curled longer.
Before using a metal curler, heat it with a hair dryer for a few seconds until it is warm. Then feel it on the back of your hand to make sure it is not too hot, if it’s okay then use it on your eyelashes.
How do I use an eyelash curler?
It should be used before applying mascara and to applied to clean lashes. Curlers may pull lashes out if they have mascara stuck to them.
- Open the curler and place over your lashes.
- Try to get the device as close to your eyelids as possible.
- Hold for up to 30 seconds.
- Do not curl lower lashes.
