Victoria and David Beckham took to social media yesterday to celebrate their daughter Harper’s fifth birthday.
The proud parents posted messages to their Instagram pages but it was the picture which Victoria decided to share that caused the most conversation.
Posting an adorable picture of herself giving her little girl a kiss on the lips, Victoria said:
“Happy Birthday baby girl. We all love you so much. Kisses from mummy X”.
Followers began by wishing the little girl a happy birthday but later turned on the content with some followers calling the image “weird”.
With phrases like “inappropriate” and “so lesbian” being used, the picture caused a debate on whether or not it’s appropriate to kiss your child on the lips.
"Why tf are you kissing your daughter on the lips?" One user commented while another said: "You're not supposed to kiss your children on the lips".
Supportive followers were quick to dismiss the negative comments with one saying:
“How very sad society has become. It’s one thing to have an opinion but to feel disgust over a mother and daughter’s open display of love and affection is frankly worrying.”
The photo was then shared on GoodToKnow’s Facebook page where the discussion continued.
However, the nay-sayers seemed to have vanished by then as the majority of the comments were in support of Victoria and her loving picture.
