The father of Caleb Schwab, who died in a horrific waterslide accident last week, has spoken out to thank well-wishers for their support through the past seven days.

In a statement issued via his attorney, lawmaker Scott Schwab said: “Words will never convey the appreciation Michele, the boys and I have for all those who expressed their love and support the last week-and-a-half.”

Caleb, 10, passed away after riding on Verruckt, the world’s tallest waterslide, in a Kansas water park. He was laid to rest last Friday.

“’Thank you’ seems so inadequate to express our appreciation, but it is the only phrase we have. So, from the depths of our hearts, we thank you,” added Mr Schwab.

With Caleb’s untimely death now under investigation by local authorities, the distraught father said that his family are hoping to get ‘assurances that such tragedy would not strike again’.

Schlitterbahn Water Park, where the accident occurred, is said to be cooperating with the investigation.

Our thoughts remain with the Schwab family.
