Two mums, who were unable to find clothes which highlighted their daughter's interests, have launched a unique clothing line which has gone from strength to strength.

Princess Awesome, the brainchild of the incredibly talented Rebecca Melsky and Eva St. Clair, caters to little girls who want to show off their interest in dinosaurs, robots and aliens without sacrificing the delicate details that normally accompany girls' clothes.

The aim behind the organisation is described in very simple terms on the Princess Awesome Facebook page, which says: "We’re not sure who decided that girls have to choose between spaceships and ribbons, sparkles and science. We believe that if a girl likes purple and also likes trucks, she should be able to wear a purple truck dress. And if a girl likes princesses and also aliens, then an alien princess skirt is for her."

Over the last year, Princess Awesome has gained popularity and Rebecca and Eva decided to start a Kickstarter campaign to raise $35,000 in the hopes they can continue designing and creating their pieces.

Having met and doubled their goal, Princess Awesome is now Kickstarter's highest-funded children's clothing project.

Commenting on the logic behind the project, the creative mums said: "Parents want to be able to encourage their daughter’s love of dinosaurs without having to go to the boys’ section of the clothing store. Parents want their girls to know that they can be 'girly' and like a whole host of topics, because those topics don’t have genders"
