A book entitled I Think I'm A Poof has been released in run-up to Mardi Gras and aims to support children struggling with their sexual identity.

The book addresses various themes, including childhood insecurity, parental concern and in-class bullying.

In a bid to promote the publication, the author of the short picture bookwriter and columnist Samuel Leighton-Dore filmed three fathers reading the story and encouraged them to draw on their own experience of learning of their son's sexual orientation.

In a moving tribute to father/ son relationships, the three men commended their sons for their bravery and allowed viewers an insight into the life they share with their children.

A percentage of the proceeds from every copy sold will go to an Australian counselling and referral service for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intergender people.
