It’s the one night of the year when we simply can’t control everything that goes into our children’s tummies, and this is clearly a major worry for certain parents as they send their little ones off trick-or-treating.

If your child suffers from an allergy, it’s totally understandable that you would want to look out for them this Halloween, but one US parent’s approach has not gone down too well with their neighbours.

Residents of a Connecticut neighbourhood have been left irritated after a parent covered their locality with flyers shaming them for not giving out healthy snacks.

“My son has severe allergies and comes home every year devastated that he can’t eat any candy he’s collected at your homes while trick-or-treating. Don’t exclude my child, or any other child from the fun,” the unidentified parent wrote.

They continued to list items that the neighbours could give out instead, including carrot sticks and raisins.

While some parents have no problem with the parent’s suggestion, others have taken issue with the apparently ‘demanding’ tone of the flyer.

Although most households will have a supply of sweet treats on hand for Halloween night, the general feeling from the locals is that this particular parent is expecting a little much from them, when they’re giving goodies out for free.
