Anyone who has lost a child will know only too well that time is an essential part of the healing process. Unfortunately, for one mum in the US, this is being denied to her.

Sergeant Darlen Dickson gave birth to her son, Greyson, three months ago. Due to Darlen falling ill, she had to have Greyson early, and he was delivered via Caesarean-section.

After remaining in hospital for treatment, Greyson was finally able to come home with Darlen and her husband, Frederick. However, tragically, the tot passed away just over a month after his birth.

As if this ordeal wasn’t devastating enough, Darlen has now been prevented from taking time off work to mourn and recover.

The sergeant has reportedly used up her sick days, holidays, and bereavement days, and while colleagues have tried to donate their own, they have been prevented from doing so.

In the latest update in the story, a police deputy confirmed that the station is working to find a solution for Darlen, but hearts have gone out to her since her story went public.

We sincerely hope that the department will have some compassion and will do the right thing for this grieving mother.
