Olympic swimmer Rebecca Adlington gave birth to her first child in June of this year, but until now had not shared her little one's name.

However, the mum-of-one has now revealed all in an exclusive interview with Hello! magazine, including her little one’s name – Summer.

And Rebecca’s husband, Harry, let us in on why they gave her the pretty moniker: "When we realised Becky had won her medals in summer, that we got married in summer, and that our baby was born in summer, it made perfect sense to name her after our favourite time of year."

Talking to the magazine, the 26-year-old revealed that giving birth was a lot harder than winning an Olympic medal, and would like her little girl to follow in her footsteps.

"I really would love her to get into the world of sport. But I'm not bothered if it’s not swimming. I just feel sport gives you so much more in life. My sport taught me everything that I am today, be dedicated and driven, committed, and you get to travel the world and meet amazing people!"

At the start of the month, the gold medalist took to Twitter to reveal that she had welcomed a little girl with husband Harry Needs, tweeting: “Harry Needs and I are over the moon as we welcomed our beautiful baby girl this morning. She’s doing well and we’re so in love!!!”

What a lovely name!
