She has been opening up on the joys of motherhood in a series of interviews this week, and finally, singer Kelly Clarkson has explained the meaning of her daughter’s unique name.

The Miss Independent singer, who gave birth to little River Rose eight months ago, revealed that it was a mixture of family heritage and her favourite surroundings that inspired her daughter’s name.

“We were going back and forth on what to name her, and I like androgynous names,” the singer, who is married to Brandon Blackstock, said.

She went on to explain: “We live on a river, so it really wasn’t that creative. We were outside on our balcony, and we both looked at each other and were like, ‘What about River? That’s kind of cool.’ [Rose] is my mother’s maiden name, and I love alliteration.”

It’s been a dramatic year for Kelly, who previously admitted that her pregnancy was “the worst” experience, opening up on her apprehension about expanding her brood as a result.

Speaking candidly during an interview with Closer magazine, the 32-year-old said: “Even though I want another baby, I don’t want to be pregnant again. It was the worst experience of my life.”

Thankfully, the singer is loving every moment of motherhood.
