He is regularly seen doting over his little ones in Instagram photos and videos, but it would appear that the recent controversy surrounding former TOWIE star Dan Osborne has proven too much in some quarters.

According to reports today, the reality star and father-of-two has been dropped from the annual ‘Celebrity Dad of the Year’ competition due to widespread backlash over his nomination.

The Sun reports that the inclusion of the star – who is dad to 16-month-old son Teddy and three-month-old daughter Ella – garnered complaints, mainly due to allegations of domestic abuse and violent threats against his ex-girlfriend, Megan Tomlin.

Dan’s inclusion on the list was also publicly criticised by domestic abuse charity Women’s Aid, with director Hilary Fisher telling the paper: “Being abusive towards women – be that physically, emotionally, or verbally – are not qualities that make a good father.”

“Furthermore, as a celebrity, there is a strong possibility of being viewed as a role-model by some young people. It is deeply irresponsible to send the message out that being abusive towards women has no bearing on you as a father,” she added.

Dan recently spoke out regarding the leaked audio of him allegedly threatening Megan over the phone, admitting that he was “disgusted” with himself over his behaviour. He has also been dropped from the cast of TOWIE since the scandal went public.
