The thoughts and prayers of thousands were with Claudia Winkleman after her daughter’s horrific Halloween accident, but friend and co-host Tess Daly has shared some positive news about little Matilda today.

In an interview with the Daily Mirror, the Strictly Come Dancing presenter said that Claudia’s eight-year-old child is doing well after being released from hospital for severe burns.

“Matilda is improving now hugely,” said the mother-of-two, revealing that her own little girl Phoebe has been hanging out with Matilda while she recovers.

“Our kids had a play day together last week and she is doing so well. They were running and playing hide and seek,” said the 45-year-old.

Tess also admitted that while it has been a terrible time for Claudia, she is herself starting to recover from the shock of the situation.

“It is every parent’s worst nightmare that your child is involved in an accident, but she is definitely on the road to recovery now and Claudia is feeling very happy and relieved,” said Tess.

Claudia returned to Strictly shortly after Matilda was released from hospital, and appeared visibly emotional and overwhelmed by the well wishes of members of the show.
