Losing a child is one of the most devastating things anyone can ever experience, and this weekend, one star has opened up about his own heartbreaking experience.

TV presenter Ben Fogle and his wife Marina lost their third child at 32 weeks last year, and almost 12 months on, he has shared the heartache of his son’s stillbirth.

In an interview with the Daily Mail, the 41-year-old said: “I lost a son I never met and had to get to grips with the terror of losing Marina. It still gives me heart palpitations.”

“Perhaps people find it hard to understand how losing a child before it has been born can affect you so deeply, but it really does…It feels like something has been stolen from you,” he added.

The couple, who are also parents to Ludo and Iona, are planning to mark their son’s anniversary with a private ceremony in an Oxfordshire church next month.

“We felt we should do something,” said Ben of the upcoming ceremony, in the emotional interview.

Speaking shortly after the devastating loss last year, Ben revealed that Marina “very, very nearly died” at the time.
