TV presenter Daphne Oz has spoken out against the pressure mums are put under to lose their baby weight.

The 28-year-old, who presents ABC’s cooking-themed show The Chew, gave birth to daughter Philomena Rose in February.

In an interview with Fitness magazine, Daphne said that there needs to be more emphasis put on gradual weight loss for new mums.

Revealing that she came up with a nine-month weight loss programme for herself after her daughter’s birth, the star said: “We have to reinforce that shedding pounds is a long, hard process.”

Despite her planning however, Daphne added that she has found the process to be a lot harder than she imagined.

“I thought I knew where I’d be when I went for my first doctor appointment a few weeks after giving birth, she said, adding, “I’d only lost 10 pounds!”

It was made undoubtedly harder by the fact that she has to taste food for a living, but Daphne reveals that she had a special trick to help her through – a two-bite rule.

We’re not sure we could be quite so disciplined!
