After her character was sentenced to two years in prison for insurance fraud, Emma Atkins who plays Charity Dingle in Emmerdale, knew it was time to reveal her fantastic baby news to fans of the long-running soap!

Allowing co-stars to open up about her exciting news, it has been revealed that Emma is eight months pregnant with her first child, although some eagle-eyed fans may have cottoned on a little earlier than the show's producers think!

While the actress managed to keep schtum about her wonderful news, an insider commented on the 39-year-old star's pregnancy, saying: "She's been hiding her baby news from everyone outside the show. No one guessed she was pregnant so didn't see Charity's prison sentence coming."

Co-star Charley Webb, who plays Debbie Dingle, took to Twitter to express her excitement at Emma's news, tweeting: "Finally- everyone knows Emma is leaving to have a baby. Can't wait to be an 'Aunty' again… Emmerdale will miss 'Charity' but she'll be back."
 


The mum-to-be was caught up in some of her most exciting storylines to date whilst keeping quiet about her pregnancy,.

Praising Emma for her stamina, a soap insider gushed "Emma was never going to slow down and the fact that's she's been at the forefront of the show shows what a true professional she is."

Fans of the actress were quick to show their support. tweeting: "You'll be an an amazing mummy!"
