A survey carried out by the Cinemagic Film and Television Festival for Young People, has revealed the number one movie as chosen by children in Dublin.

The survey, carried out on 554 children aged eight to 12 years old in schools across the county, asked which movie was their favourite.

Here are the results:

  1. The Lego Movie
  2. Despicable Me 2
  3. Spider-Man
The Lego Movie came in first place with 202 votes and was followed by Despicable Me 2 in second place with 136 votes. Spider-Man came in third place with 114 votes.

The leftover 102 votes were for other films and Frozen proved particularly popular amongst female voters.

The Cinemagic Film and Television Festival for Young People is back in Dublin City from 7th - 13th June and features screenings and workshops taking place in various events.

CEO for the company told of the importance of finding out information such as that in the favourite film survey, saying: “We were interested in finding out what films make top of the list when it comes to choosing a favourite film. The results show that a lot of young people are fans of recent cinema releases, and certainly films filled with humour and action adventure. As well as well known releases, Cinemagic aims to screen films from around the world, giving young people an insight to other cultures and a chance to see films that they otherwise wouldn’t get to see in their local multiplex.”
