12-year-old McKenna Peterson has delivered a fantastic lecture to the US chain Dick’s Sporting Goods after she discovered their latest catalogue featured no women whatsoever.

A huge basketball fan, McKenna couldn’t believe her eyes when she looked through the Basketball 2014 catalogue she received in the post and found women completely excluded from thir products.

Daughter of sports journalist Chris Peterson, McKenna went viral after he tweeted her outraged letter of complaint.

McKenna spells out the companies failing very clearly, opening by stating: “"I think that girls should be treated as equally as boys are treated."

“I don't know if you are keeping track of the ladies sports world," she writes, “but they are the Western Conference Champions AND the League Champions of 2014. They have at least two of the best players in the WORLD."

“It's hard enough for girls to break through in this sport as it is, without you guys excluding us from your catalogue."

McKenna points out that while there are pages and pages of men playing basketball in the booklet, there is only one woman – who is sitting in the stands watching the men play. There is one other picture of a woman on a coupon included in the catalogue, dressed as a cheerleader.

She signs the letter: “Sincerely, McKenna Peterson, The Fabulous Basketball Player.”

Good work McKenna, we haven’t heard the last of you!
