We had Hocus Pocus, Home Alone and The Goonies – our kids will have Pan.

You may think that the story of Peter Pan has been done to death, but rest assured, your opinion will change as soon as you see the magical trailer.

We promise you, Pan is not another run-of-the-mill remake – it’s a complete reinvention that adds a brand new twist to a familiar story. We know this will fast become a family favourite and one that our children will cherish long into adulthood; here's why...

1. First of all, Peter is being played by the adorable Levi Miller, who seems like he was born to play the part.

2. The movie begins with Peter in the orphanage, already standing up to the crooked people in charge, reminding us of watching Oliver or A Little Princess when we were kids.

3. Seriously, what child doesn’t love a movie about underdogs succeeding?

4. It looks like there’s going to be an interesting mystery throughout the movie after Peter finds a letter from his mum saying they’ll be reunited again “in this world or another”. WHO IS HIS MUM?

5. Well, we know she’s being played by Amanda Seyfried, but no indication as to what her story is yet.

6. Peter is kidnapped from the orphanage by pirates who take him away on a flying pirate ship...

7. ...which means some mind-blowing special effects your kids will love to watch time and again.

8. Hugh Jackman is theatrical and sinister as this movie’s villain, who is not Hook, but actually a cruel pirate called Blackbeard – classic baddie!

9. And there’s a twist in this story! In Peter's origin story, Hook is actually a good guy working with Peter and Tiger Lily to save Neverland from the pirates, which means we’ll find out exactly why he and Pan became enemies.

10. Rooney Mara looks fab as Tiger Lily and we can imagine a lot of little girls being as inspired by Tiger Lily as they are by Katniss. Or as we were by Vada in My Girl or Belle in Beauty and the Beast.

11. There’s also no doubt that your kids will love all the colours and fun of the native village.

12. There are even mermaids, so that’s another thing to tickle your kids’ imaginations.

13. Oh and we’ll also find out how Peter became Peter Pan, which has always been something of a mystery.

14. With so much magic and adventure, we just know our kids will treasure this film forever.
