Recently, we reported on a clever new invention that has been created to prevent car deaths among young children, and an alarming new report has proven why apparatus like this could prove crucial.

According to reports, an 18-month-old child has passed away after her mother inadvertently left her in the backseat of her car while she attended her teaching job.

Jamie Buckley, who teaches at Panama City Elementary School, didn’t discover her daughter, Reagan, until the end of the school day on Tuesday of this week.

The distraught mother contacted authorities immediately, but little Reagan was said to be unresponsive when they arrived at the scene. She was later pronounced dead.

According to police reports, Reagan had been inside the hot car since before 7.30am that morning, with temperatures rising to a stifling 83 degrees that day.

It has not yet been confirmed whether or not Ms Buckley will face charges over the horrific incident.

According to statistics released earlier this morning, Reagan Buckley’s death is at least the third child death to arise from being left in a hot car.

This is such a devastating story. Our thoughts are with all of the family at this tragic time.
