The world has been rocked by the news that five people died and 14 others were injured during a shooting in Dallas, US yesterday. Amid the tragedy, however, an image of hope and comfort has emerged.
What had begun as a peaceful protest quickly descended into chaos as shots were fired and, in the rush, hordes of people went running for their lives.
One of the people caught up in this stampede was a baby in a buggy, who could very well have lost its life had the strangers around it not risked their own.
An image which has gone viral online shows a group of people – all of whom were reportedly unknown to this child – crowding around the buggy in an attempt to save its life.
Sharing the image on Facebook, Nate Homan described the significance of the touching image.
“In the middle of the horror, in the wake of nightmare, amid the outrage and the call to arms is this moment of humanity: People, black and white, surrounded a baby stroller in Dallas as the gunfire broke out. This is the better nature of our angels. This is who we are and who we should strive to be,” wrote Homan.
