The latest star to share her battle with the illness is How I Met Your Mother star Cobie Smulders, who surprised everyone this week when she revealed that she secretly fought ovarian cancer seven years ago.
Cobie, who is a mother-of-two, dropped the bombshell during an interview for the latest issue of Women’s Health, admitting that she was diagnosed with the illness at the age of 25.
Now 33, Cobie told the publication: “I had tumours on both ovaries, and the cancer had spread into my lymph nodes and surrounding tissues.”
The Avengers star, who went on to welcome her first child, daughter Shaelyn, just two years after her diagnosis, admitted that the illness will always have a presence in her life.
“I don’t think I’ll ever feel like I’m cancer-free. Now that I’m five years out, I’m trying to think of it as a positive thing and what can I learn from it. And if I can create more awareness, I’ll do it,” she said.
Cobie, who is married to Taran Killam, is also mum to son, who was born in January of this year.
