Gardaí have this morning confirmed that an 11-year-old boy has died in a fatal road traffic collision, in County Offaly.
According to a statement released by the authorities, the as yet unnamed boy was involved in a collision with a car on the R446 Old Dublin to Galway Road, in the Marshbrook area of the county.
The boy was pronounced dead at the scene of the tragic accident, which is said to have occurred at 9:15am.
Diversions have been set in place while gardaí deal with the scene.
The authorities have appealed for members of the public, who may be able to help with their investigation of the incident, to come forward.
